Would you like to have...

  • Peace of mind, stopping the feeling of constantly being "in a rush". Being more focused, calm and in control of your days.
  • A better salary, enough to pay off the mortgage on its own.
  • Overcome procrastination and become a person of action.
  • Having more time for what is really important: family, partner, friends.
  • Stop wasting your time doing repetitive tasks that a well-trained macaque could accomplish and maximize the time you invest in important projects.

This book will present you with a simple and practical methodology that will allow you to accomplish all the points above and much more. This method is divided into three simple steps, which constitute the three sections of this book.

The first step is "what do you do?" The "what" of your work. How you fill your days. Most people are given a job description and simply do their job. But you should know that a to-do list is just a starting point. Ultimately, you need to be able to set your own priorities—it's the only way to contribute to your full potential. It may sound utopian, but believe me, there are many ways to achieve it! You can do it without asking permission, by automating or optimizing your workflow. This way, you can complete your weekly tasks drastically faster, freeing up the rest of your schedule to tackle more important projects.

This is one of the things we'll learn in the second part. If you're not too rebellious, you can also talk to your manager about delegating some of your workload to the rest of the team, freeing you up to contribute to your full potential. That said, I must warn you that it's possible (probable) your boss won't want to hire a motivated and dedicated individual who's already increasing their value. People like their routine and hate change. Often, you'll have to force people's hand and (unfortunately) make a few enemies along the way. But that's okay. Never forget this: your real boss is you. You are the boss of me, Inc. — your personal business, your brand, your identity.

And if you project the image of a go-getter who delivers results, let me tell you, headhunters will be chasing you, job offers in hand, to offer you better conditions in a company ready to recognize your true value. Managing your image is, among other things, one of the points covered in the third part of this book.

To recap, the first part focuses on what you do, the "what". My goal with this section is to instill in you a mindset that encourages you to analyze every task based on the value it generates.

The second part concerns how you do what you do. We'll look at optimization, procrastination, automation, multitasking, and other techniques to help you be more efficient in your daily life.

Finally, the third part concerns presenting who you are and what you do. We'll focus on how to sell your ideas, how to negotiate, and how to build your reputation in your field.
